Cooper Bike
Cycling couture
Charlie Cooper spends every day seeing his name on the back of MINIs: he does this from the Brooks saddle of his bicycle, which also bears his name. Charlie is the grandson of John Cooper, and a good friend of The Obsessive. Cooper bikes are beautiful machines that induce a nostalgia for vintage bikes whilst also being excellent to ride; the two are not mutually exclusive.
Collaborating with the design team at Hackett, the Hackett Cooper bike has aesthetic details that make you just want it. The chromed steel ‘Reynolds 531’ tubing frame is sturdy and light. The gum-walled tyres, matched with the mustard-coloured Brookes leather saddle and handle bar tape, give this bike a vintage, yet somehow contemporary look and feel. The Sturmey Archer chain set looks just perfect. The final classic touch is the Hackett Cooper head badge with The Union Flag.
It’s for bikes like this that Rule 12 of The Velominati was written:
The correct number of bikes to own is n+1. While the minimum number of bikes one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner - http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/
