Negroni.
By Jonathan Campbell
The origin story or stories for this simple clever cocktail are, as usual, not to be taken too seriously. The fact is, who really cares who invented it? We’re just happy that someone did […]
The joy of the Negroni is that is simple to make:
Our preferred glassware is Norlan Rauk Heavy Tumbler with:
1 large ice cube
1 measure of London Gin
1 measure of Campari
1 measure of sweet vermouth
1 piece of orange peel. twisted over the glass and then placed into the drink
(Dried orange slice is good alternative and lowers our food wastage)
Stir and that’s it...
There are variants out there around the gin you use or the sweet vermouth variety but the obsessive recommends sticking with the classics: Beefeater or Gordon’s Gin, Campari, Cinzano Rosso…maybe keep the gin in the freezer.
The origin story or stories for this simple clever cocktail are, as usual, not to be taken too seriously.
Was it invented by Count Camillo Negroni, or General Pascal Olivier de Negroni de Cardi, Comte de Negroni?
Was it invented by an Englishman on the Grand Tour? The British love their gin.
The fact is, who really cares who invented it? We’re just happy that someone did.
Enjoy.
